SUMMARY:Exbury Gardens coach trip
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 28th April 2026 there is a coach trip arranged to Exbury Gardens and an optional ride on a steam train. \nWith 200 acres of woodland\, herbaceous and formal gardens to enjoy\, there’s always something new to see at Exbury. In spring you can see the world-famous collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. A ride on the narrow-gauge steam railway will be included as part of the outing. Plus  there are also some lovely riverside walks to explore. \nThe gardens benefit from a wide tarmac driveway which extends from Exbury House in the centre of the gardens to the American Garden near the northernmost point. \nSecondary paths are constructed from compacted gravel which are more suited to pneumatic\, rather than solid tyres. Wheelchairs with pneumatic tyres are available to borrow without charge from the Visitor Entrance. If you wish to bring your own wheelchair\, they will look after it for you if you choose to switch to one of theirs. The Steam Railway has carriages specially adapted to accommodate wheelchair users and their companions.

SUMMARY:Light Up - Sir Harold Hillier Gardens - 3rd December
DESCRIPTION:For this winter we have organised a Coach visit to a Light Up Trail – Glow Event at Sir Harold Hillier Gardens (near Romsey). \nHowever\, to make it a “day out”\,  en-route we will be visiting Haskins Garden Centre in West End. This will be in the early afternoon to give you lots of time to browse and purchase  Christmas presents  as there is a wonderful selection of retailers with everything from Clothing & Fashion\, Wellbeing\, Indoor and outdoor Lifestyle\, Food & Drink\, Hobbies\, Toys and Games\,  Xmas Decorations as well as plants\, bulbs and seeds and lots of horticulture supplies. I do like a new pair of gardening gloves for Christmas. \nWe will then drive the 30 minutes to Sir Harold Hillier Gardens near Romsey for their spectacular Light Trail\, the experience now unfolds across a series of immersive themed zones.  Each one is designed to tell a story through light\, sound and atmosphere.  You’ll wander through glowing gardens\, enchanted hollows\, playful dreamscapes and more.  \nOur timed group entry will be at 5.00pm. \nYou will have plenty of time to follow the light trail and enjoy this wonderful experience and still have time for a cup of hot chocolate\, soup or maybe a glass of Mulled Wine\, (I’m not driving the coach)\, at one of the marquees where there are many street food outlets!! \nWe will be returning to Hayling by 9pm. Exact times and pick-up points will be available nearer the date. \nThe cost for this outing is £39.00 for HIHS members. SUMMARY:RHS Wisley Flower Show 2025
DESCRIPTION:Our late-summer coach outing will be a visit to the RHS Wisley Flower Show where you can experience this floral celebration with spectacular displays\, specialist nurseries\, inspirational expert talks and the chance to buy from a choice of exhibitors. \nThe cost is: \n£23 for those who are both RHS members and HIHS members (covers the cost of coach travel) \n£38 for HIHS members (covering coach and RHS entry fee) \nIf you are not yet a HIHS member\, you can join for £7. Please ask for a membership form. \nYou will have the day to explore the colourful stands and shop for a wide range of plants. The knowledgeable growers will be on hand to answer your questions and help you choose the perfect plant for you. There will be plenty of inspiring talks and demonstrations at the Hilltop Live theatre. \nThe National Dahlia Society have a marquee where there will be some of the many forms and colours of dahlias\, with more than 100 competition classes to see. For those interested in flower arrangements\, The National Association of Flower Arrangement Societies (NAFAS) have an extraordinary floral art display competition. \nAnd of course there is the magnificent Wisley Gardens spanning 240 acres. Don’t miss the Orchid House home to over 3000 orchids that have been collected since the 1980s. Or the cathedral-like Glasshouse home to the Society’s world-class tender plant collection\, it features three climatic zones to explore. \nFor more inspiration and shopping opportunities you can go into the RHS Wisley Garden Centre. DESCRIPTION:A visit to this magnificent garden with a guided tour to start at 11:00\, which will take approximately 1.5 hours There is a collection of 42\,000 plants from temperate regions in a mixture of formal and informal landscapes set in 180 acres of Hampshire countryside. SUMMARY:Arundel Tulip Festival
DESCRIPTION:Arundel Tulip Festival provides the largest display of tulips in the country. Forty acres of gardens with more than 65\,000 tulips on display. \nIn 2022 a further 60\,000 tulips were added and there are now over 130 different names varieties. From Pink Impression\, and Oxford Blue to Passionalle\, Mistress\, Pail Scherer and Bagstogne. As well as the tulips we have narcissus and cammasias and alliums which continue into May. \nTickets are £39 including entry into the castle\, £28 for the garden only.
