SUMMARY:Exbury Gardens coach trip
DESCRIPTION:Tuesday 28th April 2026 there is a coach trip arranged to Exbury Gardens and an optional ride on a steam train. \nWith 200 acres of woodland\, herbaceous and formal gardens to enjoy\, there’s always something new to see at Exbury. In spring you can see the world-famous collection of rhododendrons and azaleas. A ride on the narrow-gauge steam railway will be included as part of the outing. Plus  there are also some lovely riverside walks to explore. \nThe gardens benefit from a wide tarmac driveway which extends from Exbury House in the centre of the gardens to the American Garden near the northernmost point. \nSecondary paths are constructed from compacted gravel which are more suited to pneumatic\, rather than solid tyres. Wheelchairs with pneumatic tyres are available to borrow without charge from the Visitor Entrance. If you wish to bring your own wheelchair\, they will look after it for you if you choose to switch to one of theirs. The Steam Railway has carriages specially adapted to accommodate wheelchair users and their companions.

SUMMARY:Talk - Crops for Pots by Martyn Cox
DESCRIPTION:Vegetables were traditionally grown in serried rows on allotments or in a veg patch tucked away at the bottom of the garden. This talk looks at more innovative ways of growing vegetables\, such as growing in containers (pots\, hanging baskets\, window boxes etc)\, potagers and ‘square foot’ beds. It covers growing crops on walls and on roofs\, and contains lots of plant information and practical tips. \nMartyn is a qualified horticulturist and experienced garden communicator. He has written for most newspapers and gardening magazines\, along with many lifestyle\, customer and trade titles. Over the years he has written columns in Sainsbury’s Magazine\, Saga Magazine and Grand Designs Magazine\, and was gardening columnist with The Mail on Sunday for 17 years.  He is the author of 11 books\, including The Veg Growers’ Almanac\, The Gardener’s Yearbook and RHS Plants in Pots. He’s a popular speaker\, answers gardening questions on BBC Radio Solent and was formerly on the staff at Gardenlife\, Gardeners’ World Magazine\, Amateur Gardening\, e-garden.co.uk and Horticulture Week. \nhttps://www.martyncox.biz/books

SUMMARY:Seed Swap
DESCRIPTION:Seed Swaps: Sharing & Growing Together\nSeed swaps are a fantastic way for gardeners to exchange seeds\, share knowledge\, and promote biodiversity. Whether you’re an experienced grower or just starting\, these events provide a great opportunity to discover unique and locally adapted plant varieties while saving money. \nBy swapping seeds\, gardeners help preserve heritage and heirloom plants that might otherwise be lost. It also encourages sustainable gardening practices\, reducing reliance on commercially produced seeds and fostering a resilient\, community-based food system. \nAt a seed swap\, participants bring their surplus seeds—whether homegrown or purchased—and exchange them for something new. We also offer gardening advice\, information on seed saving\, organic growing\, and pollinator-friendly planting. \nEven if you don’t have seeds to share\, you’re welcome to take part. These events are about learning\, connecting with fellow gardeners\, and spreading the joy of growing your own food and flowers. \nJoin our local seed swap and be part of a greener\, more sustainable future!
