We are organising another outing which will be in the autumn – on Tuesday 22nd September 2026 to Gilberts “Dahlia” Nursery, a renowned dahlia specialist in Sherfield English near Romsey, SO51 6DT. This is a family run dahlia farm and plant nursery, the owner, grower and dahlia enthusiast Nick Gilbert will give us a tour and a talk about Dahlias; with lots of advice on growing them successfully. They have over 400 varieties.

The visit will start promptly at 1030 so please allow time for travel, parking etc. it is approximately just under an hour to drive from south Hayling. We will also have lunch at 1200 in their cafe, where they provide delicious homemade food and drink. For this outing they have asked us to make our lunch choice in advance.
Lunch Choices are:
1. Homemade Soup of the Day, served with either white or granary bread (gluten free available) or a Homemade Cheese Scone – £7.75
2. Jacket Potato filled with one of the following fillings and served with salad – £10.50
- Cheddar Cheese
- Baked Beans and Cheddar Cheese or just Baked Beans
- Cheddar Cheese and Bacon
- Bacon and Mushroom
- Egg Mayonnaise and Cress
- Tuna Mayonnaise or Tuna Melt
3. Homemade Quiche of the Day, served with new potatoes and salad – £11.95

The cost for the talk and tour is £3.00 per person, plus the cost of your lunch choice. I need to know your lunch choice and full payment will be required on booking. However, I wont know the flavour of soup or quiche until nearer the date. If anyone is able to offer a spare seat or two in their car, please let me know and I will try to assist with allocating places in cars to anyone who would like to come, but prefers not to or cannot drive. Please discuss with the driver appropriate payment towards fuel etc.
