Getting involved in the show

We have loads of classes at our annual show from sweet peas and roses to photography and baking.  A full list of classes is available in our Show Schedule , here is a selection;

• Any large flowered rose, 3 blooms in a vase
• Any flower, one spike or stem – take a look round the garden in the week running up to the show, what could you cut and display in a vase that you love?
• Beetroot, 2 on a plate.
• White bread displayed on a wooden board, 5 cheese straws (Ooo yummy!) on a plate, or an Orange Drizzle Cake. 
• A knitted or crocheted item, jewellery or a greetings card for any occasion.

Think you have the most fragrant rose on Hayling – how about entering the ‘Smell and Vote’ class, one bloom in a vase judged by the visitors to the show.

We also have plenty of ways to get children involved and our family flower pot person competition.

• a photograph of something in the garden
• a picture of a monster
• 4 small decorated biscuits on a plate
• an animal made from fruit and/or vegetables.

The age ranges for the junior classes are, 4-7 years and  8-11 years.

We have 3 separate classes for those 12-14 years old. Cupcakes, Sumer Flowers arranged for effect in a vase, and a photograph any subject.

Its easy to enter, simply download and print our Entry Form (if you don’t have access to a printer you can email Gill on show.recorder@hihs.org.uk with your name, and the class number you are entering) complete the form and drop it in to or post to our Show Recorder, Gill Swift, 32 Selsmore Avenue, PO11 9PB  by Wednesday 21st June. This is so we can make sure we have space to exhibit your entry on the day.
