Committee News -Growing Together Project, Elections and Rule Changes
Growing Together Project – Manager
We are excited to confirm that the Growing Together Project and the HIHS will be formalising the relationship this year, with a Subcommittee to be created headed up by the new position of ‘Growing Together Project’ Manager. More information can be found in our Autumn Newsletter.
If this is a position you are interested in, please get in touch with us on GTP@hihs.org.uk where we can give you details on the role. Elections for the position will take place at this years AGM in November.
Society Elections
This year the following positions are up for election:
- Secretary
- Show Manager
- Trading Treasurer, and
- Growing Together Project – Manager
We would really like to have some fresh new faces on the committee. If you have some thoughts about how the society runs, things we could do differently then please email admin@hihs.org.uk to find out how you can stand for one of these positions. If you don’t feel ready to take on an elected position, however, you do want to be more involved then you can join the Management Committee as a Co-opted Member and get a feel for the various roles before taking the plunge.
Please do consider joining us, if we are unable to recruit new officers and volunteers we will struggle to continue to deliver the show, outings and social events as well as keep the Society running.

Proposed Changes to the Society Rules
Proposed Changes to the Society Rules.
Members are advised that a number of proposed changes to the Society Rules will be put to a vote at this year’s Annual General Meeting in November.
The proposed amendments are straightforward and include:
- The addition of Growing Together Project Manager as an elected Officer of the Society, elected on the same three year-rotation as the Secretary, Show Manager and Trading Treasurer.
- The update of the aims of the society to reflect the incorporation of the Growing Together Project
- Reducing the quorum for General Meetings from 40 members to 30 members.
- Amending the arrangements for the annual audit so that the Society’s accounts may be presented to the AGM prior to audit, with the audit to be completed within the 12 months of the AGM and confirmation of its completion communicated to members through the Society’s newsletters.
The full proposed wording will be available to members ahead of the AGM.
Postal and email votes will be accepted in the run-up to the AGM for members who are unable to attend in person.
If you have any questions about the proposed changes, please contact the Secretary, Hazel Phillips, at admin@hihs.org.uk
