Jobs to be getting on with this month.
If you have access to Facebook please come and join us on the society Facebook page. A great place to share our love of gardens, gardening and all things horticultural , especially in these difficult times. You do not need to be a member of the society to be welcomed into the Facebook group, just answer a couple of questions from our admin – we look forward to seeing you there.
August
August is often one of the hottest months of the year, with low rainfall. Saying that our July so far has been unseasonably wet and windy with cooler temperatures so who knows what August will bring. Keep an eye on watering, and don’t forget plants in pots that have no access to water unless we intervene with the watering can and also run out of nutrients.
Its a good month for a garden tidy up, dead heading to prolong flowering, cutting back some of the earlier flower perennials, you often get a second flush from doing this especially here on Hayling, and finish sowing your biennials. Don’t forget you can pick up a selection of biennials, vegetables and hardy annuals for sowing now from our Trading Centre.
